Back in April, Tampa Bay Music News sat down with Cheap Trick’s lead singer, guitarist Robin Zander, where he hinted to our writer John Johnson that a new album was on the horizon—possibly by Halloween. Now the official word is out: Cheap Trick’s new album drops November 14, 2025. The world’s greatest rock ’n’ roll band is adding yet another gem to their already legendary catalog. Few groups remain as relevant today as they were in the ’70s—but Cheap Trick has pulled it off, thrilling fans across generations. And yes, Cheap Trick fans know exactly what we’re talking about.
The album, titled “All Washed Up,” is anything but. For a band that still writes, records, and performs live more than 100 nights a year, the title is a tongue-in-cheek nod to their unstoppable spirit. The cover art? Simply fantastic. In full disclosure—our own writer, John Johnson, who is also a world-class graphic designer, created the artwork for this project. John has collaborated with the band many times before, and this album is another testament to that creative partnership.
Here’s the official word from the band’s publicist, Ken Weinstein, Big Hassle PR. The one and only Cheap Trick have announced today’s premiere of their new single. The infectious and anthemic “Twelve Gates” is available now at all DSPs and streaming services. The song heralds the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Famers’ eagerly anticipated 21st studio album, All Washed Up, arriving via BMG on Friday, November 14 digitally as well as on standard black vinyl and CD. A limited-edition exclusive “Orange Marble” LP variant of the album, limited to 1,000 units, will be available to pre-order via the band’s new D2C store.
“Our newest single release, ‘Twelve Gates,’ from the 2025 LP All Washed Up, is one of our best yet,” says bassist Tom Petersson “ I really love how this song came out. It’s one of my favorites on the album.
All Washed Up was produced by the band and Julian Raymond. It was mixed by Chris Lord Alge and recorded at various studios in Nashville (Sound Emporium Studios, Blackbird, Love Shack, Zen) as well as in LA (Sweetzerland Studios) through 2024.
“Just one more great album from the best rock band in the world,” says lead singer/guitarist Robin Zander.
