Fans dressed in cowboy boots and blue jeans cheered as Darius Rucker took the stage at the Seminole Hard Rock Event Center in Tampa, Florida, on Sunday, July 20th, 2025. From the very first note, the energy in the packed room was electric as Rucker launched into his set with a mix of country charm and rock-star confidence. Longtime fans were treated to heartfelt renditions of “Only Wanna Be With You” and the soulful “Let Her Cry,” both delivered with the same passion that made them hits decades ago. Adding to the fun, we ran into our friends Mika and Brian Kleinschmidt—Tampa’s own stars of HGTV’s 100 Day Dream Home. I couldn’t help jumping into my role as the show photographer to snap a pic as we were waiting for the show to start.
Midway through the show, Rucker kept the audience on their toes with unexpected covers that showed his range and playful spirit. The room lit up when he surprised everyone with a smooth, grooving version of the Doobie Brothers’ classic “Takin’ It to the Streets,” followed later by a cheeky, crowd-pleasing take on Blackstreet’s “No Diggity” that had even Mika and Brian dancing and singing like nobody was watching. It was one of those moments where you realize how music turns strangers into friends and friends into family.
To close the night, Rucker strummed the opening chords of “Wagon Wheel,” instantly igniting a massive singalong. As the final chorus approached, the crowd’s voices swelled so loudly that Rucker and his band stopped playing altogether, letting the audience carry the song to its emotional finish. It was a perfect ending to a night that felt equal parts concert and communal celebration—a reminder of the power of music to bring people together.
